Changing colors—on one repeated graphic—or several related graphics, can be used to imply change. For example, the different colors of a growing tomato can represent the different stages of a company's growth.
A series of colors or shades can show a progression. Keep in mind that dark shades and light tints both tend to look further away and less aggressive than do pure colors.
